Inland Rail is a 1,700km freight rail line that will connect Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. The program is broken up into 13 individual projects.
The project valued at $250m-500m, includes upgrading 25 km of non-operational rail line and 14 km of new track across the Macintyre River, allowing for future connections to Goondiwindi and the broader region.
The G2K section of Inland Rail valued at $3.55b is split into three projects, the most complex elements of the whole Inland Rail including a 6 km tunnel. This is being delivered through a PPP package.
The B2G section of Inland Rail, valued at $1.4b will connect one of Australia’s most productive farming regions to markets across the country. This section includes building approximately 145 km of new dual gauge track and upgrading approximately 71 km of track.
